There is a fix for this:

Hey Pirates,
The time has now come! The closed beta of Kartuga has just started and right in this moment you could receive one of the beta keys. With this key you are the first one who has access to our brand new action MMOG. And there are a lot of things you can look forward to in it: The playable version already includes all three classes with complete skill trees. Hence, you will finally be able to decide if you prefer the Destroyer, Engineer or Protector. Moreover, 20 of the 40 planned ship types are already done and selectable. There is also a large variety of play modes – If you prefer to play on your own, you can sail around the oceans of the five large accessible game worlds and solve quests. If you like to play against other players you have the choice between domination and destruction. Domination is a variation of classic king-of-the-hill. Destruction is a mode where a bomb has to be detonated in the enemy’s base. Soon, the PvP modes will separate the wheat from the chaff!
All pirates who didn’t receive a beta key so far shouldn’t be disappointed. In the next days, we will increase the number of players. Moreover we will give out keys on our InnoGames-Facebook page daily. Taking a look is well worthwhile!

Today, new information about the highly anticipated pirate game Kartuga was published: For the first time, we can have a look at the entire interface of the game. And there’s some very interesting stuff to see: The Inventory of equippable items and crew members as well as the skill and experience bar at the bottom of the screen. Next to it are the slots for consumables you can use during battle, such as Repair kits that refill your energy, or short-term buffs.
You can also see some more of the inventory: There you equip crew members – these have different effects on the properties of your ship. Officers, carpenters, gunners: a whole range of professions is to be filled there. There are quite a few different slots where you can assign equipment and items. As usual in role-playing games, you can check out the stats of the item in the item description with a quick mouse-over. There you also see whether it is worthwhile to equip the item. In the screenshot you see a certain type of ammunition that can cause additional damage.
Particularly interesting is the small slot directly below the 3D view of your ship. There you can use different layouts of ships – The ship types that are available to you can be found in the “dock” tab again.
I hope you are as excited as I for Kartuga to start – only a few weeks to go!

As a Hamburg based browser games developer, we have really a special relationship to water and ships. With one of the largest harbors in the world directly next to our headquarters, I pass a lot of different ship types on my way to work. Some of them are really small but able to sail even the smallest canals, others are huge and need a lot of space even to turn. This aspect was now included in our action MMOG Kartuga:
Today, we announced that in addition to the three ship classes’, protector, engineer and destroyer, there are also three variations of these types of ships included in the game: light, medium and large. Depending on the chosen categories, ship properties differ vastly from each other, so you really need to think carefully about your choice. Here you can see a video which introduces the three types:
Traditionally, I like playing big and powerful units. But thinking about that, speed and agility might be a great advantage on sea, so I have to think about my choice again…
One of the coolest things is that our team included nearly 40 completely fresh ship layouts into Kartuga – goodbye boredom! In addition to that, the ship types also differ visually from each other. Therefore, I’m able to see at first glance which type is attacking me and if escape might be necessary…
Scenic Coastlines, magnificent temple cities or mysterious jungle worlds. Those areas and more await you in the world of Kartuga. While our development team fiercely continues to prepare the game for Closed Beta (which we’ll start as fast as we can, promise!), I’d like to present you with the various kingdoms of Kartuga in our Area-Trailer: Ithosia, the “Empire of the Sun” and Kartu.
The waters of Ithosia bear strong reference to the Mediterranean. Dreamy fishing villages alternate with sandy beaches – but don’t get fooled by the beautiful scenery: Dangerous pirates and other scum are always close by, ready to attack.
The Empire of the Sun, on the other hand, introduces you to a world reminiscent of the orient. Followed by a merciless sun you’ll sail past dreamy locations inspired by Arabian Nights: marvelous palaces and radiant cities.
The kingdom of Kartu, finally, derives its visual style from mayan culture. Lush jungles, volcanoes and monstrous temple cities dominate the area. Your enemies use small coves and muddy rivers for sudden ambushes. Remember to keep your eyes wide open if you don’t want to end on the bottom of the emerald seas.
As you can see, Kartuga is far from being a typical pirate game, and will have various unique worlds for you to discover. don’t’ forget to pre-register for Closed Beta!
Hope to see you soon!
Hey folks,
Holiday season is the time of year where you allow yourself to get a little rest – but if you think, we at InnoGames spend our winter holidays with nothing but sleeping and gaming, you’re dead wrong! Check out this brand new Graphic from the Kartuga-Team!
In the last two weeks we presented two out of three classes from our upcoming Action MMOG Kartuga. Now is the time to lift the veil for the third one: The Protector. The powerful battleship is the most robust class in the pirate game and fearlessly sets sails to join any battle. The Protector also has a number of skills for both attacking and defendin, which makes him a valuable addition to every team. Want to see the Protector in action? Check out our Video below!
If you would like to draw enemy fire and defend your teammates, the Protector with its defensive abilities is your choice! Like the other classes of Kartuga, the Protector has a thrice-branched skill tree, so you can adjust it to your individual play style. You will be rewarded skill points after every level up. In case of the Protector, you can spend your points on the specializations Bulwark, Wrangler and Suppressor. The Bulwark is a swimming fortress, with nearly impenetrable defenses. The Wrangler is less heavily fortified, but easily sinks targets with its precise critical strikes. Lastly, the Suppressor acts as big brother of every team and defends smaller mates, using close combat skills.
So now we presented all three classes of Kartuga to you. Do you have a favorite yet? In any case, we are really excited and look forward to the upcoming closed beta.
Don’t forget to pre-register at www.kartuga.com!
Following last weeks Destroyer Announcement, this week we’ll present the Engineer Class to you. She is quite the handful – In order to find her place in the intense and dangerous world of Kartuga, she developed numerous ways to support Comrades and Deal with her foes. Therefore, she can quickly turn the tides of battle, utilizing her impressive arsenal –tools like Repair Crates, Buoys and her secret Weapon, Flying Drones that can actually, depending on the situation, attack enemies or heal teammates. Insanely useful, right? You can check out those tools in action in the Video Introduction below:
Her amazing weaponry make the Engineer the perfect supporting class for each team – but as said, she’s also very versatile in her use of tools – This lady and can definitely hold her own against foes! Like the other classes, the Engineer has a skill tree, on which you as a a player unlock passive and active abilities while leveling up. This Skill tree has three branches, which you can freely combine. With the Engineer, those Specializations are called Buoy Master, Atlanticus and Tinker. The Buoy Master, who would have thought, specializes in the use of buoys to control the flow of the battlefield, supporting teammates and attacking at the same time. The Tinker is an expert at weakening enemies and debuffing their skills. The Atlanticus build is the ideal choice if you want to repair allies and control enemy crowds. Of course, the most fun will be to find your unique combination from those builds and their abilities. In general, one could say that the Engineer is the choice for those who like a more playful and creative style of playing – And your friends will always appreciate having an engineer around.
Soon, we will introduce the third and, at least for the foreseeable future, final class of Kartuga. And our team is still working hard on the upcoming Closed Beta. Exciting things are happening – Are you looking forward to it as well? Don’t forget to pre-register at www.kartuga.com
